How Many Days Have You Been Alive?
Your age in years is a rounding. This is the exact count, leap days included.
Nothing is stored. The result is calculated from the date in the page URL, which is also what makes it shareable.
Your age in years is a rounding. Your age in days is exact, and it produces milestones a birthday never gives you — the 10,000th day, the 20,000th, the halfway point to the next round number.
Enter a birth date and this tool counts the days precisely, accounting for every leap year in between, then tells you which milestone is next and what date it falls on.
The milestones a birthday hides
Ten thousand days arrives at roughly 27 years and 5 months, which is nobody's birthday and passes unnoticed by almost everyone. Twenty thousand days lands near 54 years and 9 months. A billion seconds — a milestone with a certain nerdish appeal — comes up at about 31 years and 8 months. None of these coincide with an annual celebration, which is precisely what makes them worth marking.
How leap years are handled
The count is a true difference between two calendar dates, so every February 29 in between is included automatically. The Gregorian leap rule is not simply every fourth year: century years are skipped unless divisible by 400, which is why 1900 was not a leap year and 2000 was. Anyone born before 1900 or after 2100 is affected by that rule, and the calculation applies it correctly.
Weeks, and the grid that made them famous
Dividing your days by seven gives your age in weeks — a unit that became a minor internet fixture through the 'life in weeks' chart, which lays out a 90-year life as a grid of roughly 4,700 boxes. The appeal is that a number too large to feel becomes a shape you can take in at a glance. A 30-year-old has filled about a third of that grid.

Days Alive Calculator — Frequently Asked Questions
- How many days have I been alive?
- Enter your birth date above and the tool counts the exact number of days from that date to today, including every leap day in between. As a rough check, multiply your age in years by 365.25.
- At what age are you 10,000 days old?
- About 27 years and 5 months. The exact date depends on how many leap days fall in that span, which is why it is worth calculating rather than estimating. Twenty thousand days arrives at roughly 54 years and 9 months, and 30,000 days at about 82 years and 2 months.
- How many days are in a year on average?
- 365.2425 in the Gregorian calendar. The extra quarter-day is why we add February 29 every four years, and the small overcorrection in that rule is why century years are skipped unless divisible by 400.
- How many weeks are in an average lifetime?
- A little over 4,000 for an 80-year life, and about 4,700 for 90 years. That framing comes from the 'life in weeks' grid, which represents each week of a life as a single box.
- Does this tool store my birth date?
- No. There is no account and nothing is written to a database. The calculation runs from the date in the page URL, which is also what lets you share or bookmark a result.
