More rounds
Each round is a different set of 10 questions from the same pool of passages.
Where these questions come from
Every passage, and every wrong answer, is a real verse from Alto's faith answers, quoted from the World English Bible, which is in the public domain. Nothing here is paraphrased or invented — the wrong options are simply other real passages.
Ten questions, drawn from passages that turn up in ordinary life: the verse read at a wedding, the one on the sympathy card, the one quoted in an argument. Some ask you to name the citation from the text, others ask only which book it came from. Answer and the passage explains itself, with a link to where Alto discusses it.
Nothing is stored and there is no sign-up. Your score lives in the page while you are on it and disappears when you leave, so this is a way to test yourself rather than a record of anything.
Where the questions come from
Every passage in the quiz is a real verse quoted from the World English Bible, a modern public-domain translation. Crucially, the wrong answers are real verses too — no option is invented or paraphrased scripture. A question asking which passage says something is really asking you to distinguish between four genuine citations, which is the skill the quiz is testing.
Why some questions are easier than others
Naming the book a passage comes from is a much lower bar than naming chapter and verse, and the quiz mixes both deliberately. Most people who read regularly can place a passage in Psalms or in Paul's letters without recalling the exact citation. Rounds are shuffled from the same pool, so a second round is genuinely different questions rather than the same ten reordered.
Knowing the citation is not the point
Recall of chapter and verse is a useful index, not a measure of faith or understanding. Plenty of people who have read scripture closely for decades quote it accurately without ever citing it, because that is how it was taught to them. Treat a low score as a map of what to read next rather than a verdict.

Bible Quiz — Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this Bible quiz free?
- Yes. There is no account, no email, and no payment. Your score is calculated in your browser and is never sent anywhere or saved.
- Which Bible translation does the quiz use?
- The World English Bible, a modern public-domain translation. Wording will differ slightly from the King James, NIV, or ESV, so a passage you know well may read a little differently here.
- How many questions are in the quiz?
- Ten per round, with several rounds available. Each round draws a different set of passages from the same pool, and no passage repeats within a round.
- Are the wrong answers made-up verses?
- No. Every option, right or wrong, is a real citation or a real book of the Bible. The quiz never shows invented or altered scripture, which is why the wrong answers are other genuine passages rather than plausible-sounding fakes.
- Can I see the answer explained?
- Yes. As soon as you answer, the correct citation is shown along with where Alto discusses that passage, so you can read the surrounding context rather than just the single verse.
