Yes, but: AI buffs are still a tiny subset of X's overall user base, and data shows X faces ample competitive pressure from Threads in engaging the everyday user.

• Meta's Threads had 141.5 million daily active mobile users as of January 2026, topping X's 125 million, per Similarweb data.

Reality check: Musk didn't create "AI Twitter." Researchers and tech industry figures were already an influential part of the network long before he arrived.
