The latest U.S. vehicle recalls, drawn from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and updated throughout the day. Track recalls for cars, trucks, and SUVs — with the affected component, the safety risk, and the manufacturer's remedy.
Use the lookup tool below to check a specific vehicle by year, make, and model, or decode your VIN to see whether it is covered by an open recall. Every result links back to the official NHTSA record.
How to check if your car is recalled
Enter your vehicle's model year, make, and model — or your 17-character VIN — in the lookup tool above to see open NHTSA safety recalls. A recall means the manufacturer or NHTSA has determined the vehicle (or a part) creates an unreasonable safety risk or fails to meet a federal standard, and the manufacturer must fix it free of charge.
What a vehicle recall covers
Recalls address safety defects — faulty airbags, brakes, steering, fuel systems, electrical fires, and similar hazards — as well as failures to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The repair, replacement, or refund is provided at no cost. Recalls do not cover general wear and tear or problems outside the safety standards.
